Brides: Congratulations on your big day!
Here is a helpful list of things you should begin thinking about as soon as you get engaged:
Brides should improve and maintain their skin for a healthy glow. Make an appointment with your esthetician to begin scheduling facials or get recommendations on skin care treatments now. (See attached skin care steps.)
Even if you haven’t chosen a dress at this point, you should decide how you think you will want to wear your hair. Do you want to grow it longer or cut it short? For best hair results, plan to have Deep Conditioning Treatments every 4 weeks. Schedule an appointment with your Hair Stylist to discuss what is possible with your hair type between now and the big day.
If the look of your hands, especially your ring finger, is important to you, you may want to consider getting manicures. The manicure will not only make your hands and nails more healthy, but the hand massage will be a relaxing experience during your hectic wedding planning time. Also consider having a pedicures; your toes will look great and your feet will be soft for your honeymoon!
Now that you have the basics down, let’s discuss the details of what should be done when planning your salon and spa appointments to prepare for your wedding.
Let’s begin with the Bridesmaids, Flower girls, and Moms:
As early into the wedding plans as possible, determine which of your bridesmaids, flower girls, and moms will want to come into the salon for hairstyles, make-up applications, manicures and pedicures.
» The most commonly requested hairstyles for rehearsals include haircuts, colors, and highlights, and blowdries, curls, or up-dos for the wedding day.
As soon as you determine the number of people coming into the salon you should call the salon to reserve and allocate a time slot for each person. The name of each person will be required to reserve the space. Waiting too long to make the appointments can result in hurried wedding day preparations, or worse, waiting too long can result in no available appointments on your wedding day!
Once you have made the wedding party reservations, we will provide you with a bridal party schedule for each person. This schedule should be given to each person immediately so that they know when their appointment is, where it is, and what time they should arrive. It is very important to stress to each person that running even a few minutes late can throw the entire schedule off course and cause everyone unnecessary stress.
Two to three weeks prior to the wedding date you should come in for a Trial Bridal Up-Do and Trial Make-Up Application.
These appointments should be scheduled at the same time your other bridal party appointments are scheduled. The Bridal Trial Up-Do and Make-Up Application will ensure that you are satisfied with the style and look that you chose for your wedding day, as well as ensure that the stylist and make-up artist know what to do the day of.
» When you come in for your Bridal Trial Up-Do wear and bring the following:
Wear a shirt that is the same or similar color of your dress or a tube top
A picture of the style you want.
Your veil or headpiece.
» You should expect the following the day of your trial appointments:
Your hair will be done with the Bridal Up-Do you request and the veil will be put on so you can see how the two look together.
Your make-up will be applied as you want to look on your wedding day, however you should keep in mind that the actual wedding day make-up will look better as it will be applied with the intention of wearing all day and looking great in photos.
Once your hair and make-up are complete and you are happy with the results, your hairstyle will be changed slightly so that no one sees your actual bridal up-do prior to the wedding day.
The week of the big day try to relax and treat yourself. You may want to schedule an Aromatherapy, Hot Stone, or Reflexology Massage.
The day of your wedding:
Remember these important suggestions and pass them on to everyone coming in as part of the Bridal Party the day of your wedding.
Eat breakfast, even if you don’t feel hungry! You’ll need the energy to start your day and if you wait to eat, you may not have the opportunity again.
Take a shower and wash your hair in the morning before coming to the salon. Once your hair and make-up is complete, you will want to stay away from water and humidity.
Remember that taking a nap after your salon visit can ruin your hair and make-up, so get plenty of sleep the night before.
Wear a button-up shirt that is the same or similar color of your dress.
